EAST YORKSHIRE WOMEN & GIRLS CRICKET
Yorkshire CCC’s Director of Coaching, David Byas, visited the Yorkshire Pathways Development Centre for Girls at St Mary’s Academy, Hull on Saturday 11 February 2006 to see for himself how Women and Girls Cricket is progressing in the area.
David’s wife, Rachael, chairs the committee within the East Yorkshire Development Group, which was formed to develop Women and Girls Cricket in East Yorkshire. The aims of this body are to open up the game of cricket to all women and girls bringing together all agencies, clubs and schools to further the progress, development and participation in the game on both team and individual levels.
The session shown in the picture (see below) shows David (tallest member of the back row) with several local coaches including Peter Todd (Director of the Hull Girls Centre) (extreme right - back row) and Paul Shaw (Cricket Development Officer for East Yorkshire) (2nd left - back row).
The girls are a mixture of beginners and up and coming potential stars that have been invited to attend this Development Centre. Several other girls from the area have progressed to a higher level in the Pathways System and are already playing for the full Yorkshire team but new recruits are always welcome.
Coming up in the spring are sessions at several primary schools, which will be scouting for talent to form an Under 11 District Team and further competitions at Under 13 and 15 levels. The East Yorkshire Under 15 Team will be defending the Yorkshire Inter District Cup this year, which they won by beating West Yorkshire in the final last September.
Carl Parkin who is a newly appointed Yorkshire Ladies Coach, and who is coaching at this centre, is also on the lookout talent for his Yorkshire Teams.
Beverley CC has an established team who are always looking for players and Zingari CC are trying to establish another Ladies team for the Hull area.
For details about anything mentioned above or you know any female of any age who wants further information please contact Carl Parkin on 07793292630 or Peter Todd on 01964 550529.
