SUMMARY OF GUIDELINES FOR COURSE ORGANISERS

First and Foremost - You will need to consult your Local CDM to decide whether or not you need a course in your particular area and to complete a Course Approval Form

Venues - YCB will now need to approve all venues for the new courses. So once you have decided to run a course and have found a venue, apply to the YCB for facility approval.

All venues will need to meet minimum safety standards as follows

Adequate health and safety provision
A classroom
A Sports Hall
A changing Room
Toilets
Emergency Exits
Telephone
1st Aid facilities
Adequate disabled access

Tutors - Course Organisers will need to check on the availability of 2 Tutors for all UKCC Courses (UKCC Level One and UKCC Level 2)

Timings - Course Organisers will need to check on the availability of suitable timings- UKCC Level One 2 full days with two modules per day and a half-day assessment (4 hours)

UKCC Level Two - 4 full days with 2 modules per day or 8 weekly sessions of 3 hours, followed by 10 hours supported practice and a separate assessment half-day.

Approximately one week should be left between even numbered modules for home study

Candidates have to attend all modules

Facility Requirements - To run successful UKCC courses, you will need, as well as the minimum standards above, a TV/ Video, Lap-Top or Over-Head Projector or a Data Projector, a screen and a flip-chart.

Facility Approval - Please see below for the new Facility Approval Form. Please download and complete and return as stated on the form.

Costings - For all UKCC courses, build into the fees for the course the cost of two tutors, the facility hire and the candidate registration fee.(UKCC Level One £49.00 per candidate. UKCC Level 2 is £65.80 per candidate)

Registering the Course - Complete the relevant course registration form and return it to Howard Clayton (as below). Please give a minimum of 6 weeks notice. Please complete the registration form in full.

Age qualifications for candidates - YCB has now been informed that a candidate MUST be aged 16 at the beginning of a UKCC Level One course and 18 at the beginning of a UKCC Level 2 course.

Other items to remember - You will also need to arrange access to 1st Aid and Good Practice Child Protection courses.

After the course, the coaches retain their achievement forms and logbooks and the tutor/organiser retains the multiple-choice questionnaires for one year.
