Hymers College and Hull Zingari Cricket Club join forces 

Hymers College and Zingari Cricket Club have today announced a unique partnership. Hymers College in Hymers Avenue, Hull has joined forces with Hull Zingari Cricket Club which is based in Chanterlands Avenue, Hull with a view to develop junior cricketers in Hull and East Yorkshire. 

The first event which will be held as a result of the partnership will be a Primary School Cricket Festival which is to be held at Hymers College on Monday 14 July. Several schools from around the local area will be involved, namely Collingwood, Thoresby, Rokeby Park, Sidmouth, Bricknell, Hymers, and St Nicholas Primary Schools, where Year 6 pupils will play against each other. 

The event will be an enjoyable day and is to get junior school pupils interested in the sport of cricket. 

Mr Mike Ulyatt from Hull Zingari Cricket Club commented, “We are really looking forward to the Cricket Festival at Hymers – nothing has been done like it before in the area. The day will involve coaching by some top coaches and we are hoping that all of the pupils not only enjoy the day but also learn some valuable cricket skills.” 

Mr David Elstone, Headmaster at HymersCollege added, “We are really excited about the partnership with Hull Zingari and are hoping that by joining forces we are able to raise the profile of junior cricket in the local area as well as providing opportunities for our own students.” 

The club and the school have joined forces to promote cricket amongst local youngsters. The partnership will also raise Hull Zingari’s profile amongst the school’s cricketers, who it is hoped will continue to play cricket throughout the summer holidays.  

As part of the partnership Zingari Cricket Club will have access to increased junior membership, including girls, the use of the school’s cricket pitches during the summer holidays, and the use of winter indoor nets for junior and senior players. The school which has a lon
