THE YORKSHIRE CRICKET BOARD
The YCB is the County governing body for cricket in Yorkshire
The ECB gives the Board the responsibility for the development of women and girls cricket and its administration. The Board is also responsible to ECB for all the ECB National Festivals (eg The Lady Taverners) and for the teams for ECB Competitions
THE YORKSHIRE WOMEN’S CRICKET ASSOCIATION
The YWCA has existed for many years and was originally a County member of the England WCA. That body has now ceased and its role is taken over by ECB. YWCA is only a member of ECB through its membership of the YCB. The YCB has been happy for the YWCA to continue the administration of County teams on its behalf.
Only affiliated members to YCB may vote at YWCA AGMs etc
MEMBERSHIP AND AFFILIATION
However, membership of ECB, YWCA etc is only through affiliation to YCB
It is a requirement of ECB and YCB that only affiliated Clubs can gain benefits of membership
This includes entry into any ECB, YCB or District competition or festival. It is also a national and county requirement that players in County representative teams come from affiliated Clubs
It is clearly therefore essential that those Women’s Clubs (or section of other Cricket Clubs) that do not affiliate should do so.
Clearly, they may be handicapping the progression of their players and members if they do not do so.
INSURANCE
The YCB and YWCA have great concerns about whether all Women’s Clubs have the required Public Liability insurance. In an age where litigation is far too frequent, this is absolutely essential. The ECB through its brokers (Marshall Wooldridge) run a good Club scheme that would fit needs
None of the ECB, YCB or YWCA could back or help any Club that is not affilaited in the event of extreme or litigation etc
CHILD WELFARE CONCERNS
The YCB and YWCA have similar concerns over the lack of nominated Child Welfare Officers at a considerable proportion of Women’s Stand Alone Clubs. It would be no defence to say you do not usually play Under 18s if an issue arose. The very fact that you may occasionally play one even if it to make up the numbers or that there is one in the opposition is sufficient to ensure that you need to have the correct Officer and policies in place. Without this, your Club Chairman could be held personally responsible in law.
AFFILIATION PROCEDURES
1) Stand Alone Women’s Clubs - The YCB has agreed the special rate of Club-only affiliation of £10.00 per annum.
There is no additional charge if the Club also runs Under 18 teams
2) Women’s sections of affiliated Clubs - The affiliated Club should already pay £10.00 club affiliation to YCB. The YCB has agreed that Women’s (Over 18) teams or sections should pay a single team fee of £9.00 per annum.
There is no additional charge if the Club also runs teams at age-groups of Under 18 years. If a Club runs no Women’s sides over 18 but does run Girls-only teams (Under 18), then please register this fact when you affiliate.
The YCB has further agreed that all these fees will go to YWCA for administration purposes.
